If you haven't heard of this lady then rest assured you will soon enough. Her album was released on Monday and she is set to become a huge star. Her mesmerising voice and beguiling appearance hide her rather down to earth personality.
I was very fortunate to attend her album launch on Monday evening at the Tabernacle, a full house that was blown away by her extraordinary voice. The music: a mix of soul, gospel and jazz with a strong African sound is written by Laura herself. The band, which includes her brother and sister, provides fantastic support to her voice. Despite her ethereal appearance Laura seems very much a family girl and rather bewildered by her success. I hope she keeps this rather humble quality and I look forward to hearing a lot more from her. So go and listen to her music right away!
