I'm making a conscious decision this Christmas to either make my own Christmas gifts or buy from local Independent makers. I bought a number of gifts at the annual Stapleford Christmas Craft Fair run by the admirable PTA of Matilda's primary school.
The fair is a wonderful community event in the social calender, many of the residents went to the school themselves who loyally show their continuing support of the school that lies at the heart of village.
I was impressed with the number of local businesses that were present as well as the all the usual attractions for the children: Santa's Grotto, the elves workshop there was entertainment from the local community. It was such a warm, friendly festive event that kick started a lot of people's Christmas shopping including my own!
I'll be on the fair committee next year which I'm really looking forward to. In the meantime do search out your local fairs, makers and suppliers for unique handmade gifts that will be cherished for years to come!
