On one of the UK's most picturesque high streets lies The Linton Kitchen. Linton is an especially chocolate box Cambridgeshire village with a thriving high street that favours the independents. A warm welcome awaits you in this deli as well as delicious homemade cakes and light lunches, the staff are more than happy to take the time to chat not only about their own business but that of their neighbours. Despite being busy with customers they were happy to share conversation with me, I don't think I've ever met some delightful people. In this small village it would seem that everyone is very supportive of their respective businesses coming together to provide a delightful high street.
Back to the Linton Kitchen though which really was a joy to visit. Their menu is locally sourced and everything is homemade on the day so is super fresh. Personally I can vouch for the great coffee and delicious Coffee and Walnut cake, though I did have a good snoop around and can report that it all looked mouthwatering.
Not only is this a meeting place to share in lovely food but where you can do a spot of shopping. Shelves are filled with interesting foodie goods and a lovely selection of local crafts. The specially dedicated tea shelves are most impressive with every Kandula Tea imaginable of which I am a particular fan.
With flowers from the gorgeous florist up the road The Flower Boutique and bread from the village artisan baker The Jigsaw Bakery Linton Kitchen lies at the heart of this community. Locals sit and chat over their teas whilst strangers like me are made to feel equally welcome. This is a home from home; pretty, comfortable, warm with great food. Who wouldn't want to hang out here?
