Staycation in Cambridge...

My Summer holiday this year will be spent in beautiful Cambridgeshire, unpacking and sorting out our new home. The husband has just begun his new job so no holiday abroad for us this year, sadly.

I took a few days out this week to have my two God daughters to stay, their arrival was a welcome relief from the packing boxes. I took them off to Cambridge on Monday to explore my new adopted city, a beautiful ancient city filled with culture and history. The shopping ain't half bad either!

We had a good wander around the stunning Christchurch College where the students are even lucky enough to have a pool! Punting is big news in Cambridge so how could we resist? The girls loved it and so did I, we hit upon a very knowledgeable guide anxious to share the history behind some of the most iconic buildings that line the attractive River Cam.

Fitzbillies is somewhat of an institution in Cambridge with their Chelsea buns known the world over. After much walking we made a pitstop at this institution and I can report back that their cakes really are to die for!

I'm sure I'll be doing a lot more exploring of this city but for now this was a perfect day out with my girls. Think I've persuaded them they should all be applying for Cambridge University when the time comes...
