Secretly we were very pleased when our friends told us their cottage, in the picture postcard village of Appledore, was now available.
Only 10 minutes from the equally lovely towns of Rye and Tenterden, Appledore is a historic village with a lovely local pub, a village shop/post office, a medieval church, a great Antiques centre in the old forge, and a tea room right next door to the house. Beautifully renovated with an open fire, there is plenty of space for a family, including a pretty enclosed garden with a decking area at the back.
We spent last weekend there after our trip to Lapland UK as it's only a 40 minute drive away, better than trying to fight your way along the M25.
Very close to Camber Sands, Sissinghurst, Bexhill and Ashford there is plenty to see and do in the local area though it is also the perfect place to get away from it all and immerse yourself in village life.
