Discoveries....

Just as in a city where a wrong turn can take you down the prettiest of streets hidden away from the main thoroughfare, in the countryside it's the wide network of public footpaths that spread far and wide. Since moving to Cambridgeshire the local footpaths have become our friends, we've been known to just park up and walk down an unsuspecting path that leads us to a magical place. Often deserted these paths connect villages, cities and towns up and down the country often with breath taking results.

On the spur of the moment we took one such path yesterday in the village of Rodmell in Sussex where we discovered the magnificent scenery of the South Downs, we ran through long grass across the fields then sat for a while taking in the incredible views. Isn't marvelous to have all this on one's doorstep you just need to hunt out those signs and follow your heart down a small path. There are numerous sites to use to find your preferred path including google maps or the Ramblers website. I also found this Walk England site quite interesting. You can however do as I do, spot a sign, pull over and hope for the best...
