Never wanting miss out on other people's traditions, our friends gathered together a big group to celebrate Burns Night yesterday! We had one honorary Scot, my dear friend Jimmy who did the honours and read the Ode to the Haggis.
We kicked off with a gorgeous leek and potato soup, not sure how Scottish that is but it was so good none of us could resist a second helping. Then came the highly anticipated Haggis with mash, and accompanied by a delicious neep dauphinoise.
Pudding was a triumph and that came from Helena. Toasted oats, fruit coulis, raspberries, whisky spiked whipped cream topped with honeyed whisky. Divine it was!
As always an afternoon and evening spent catching up with good friends, fuelled by wine is such a tonic for the soul. We really ought to to it more often!
