I think we can safely say that Summer is now gone, hopes of an Indian Summer have been dashed for the last week with the constant drizzle we've been suffering.
So grateful to have been able to make the most of last day of Summer when temperatures soared to nearly 30 degrees. We made up a tasty picnic and took off with Matilda's friend Tabitha to Morden Hall Park in Morden. A short drive from home for us with plenty of activities for children or quiet spaces for adults, it is definitely worth discovering.
A beautiful spot with a stunning rose garden surrounded by huge old trees giving the perfect shade for a hot day. A shallow river allows for safe paddling, a great way to keep cool. For the children there is a fabulous play area with stepping stones, climbing ropes, swings and a stage they loved running around on.
We whiled away a few hours playing in the sun, taking in the scent of the spectacular flowers around us then ended up in the National Trust Tea shop for a well earned refreshing ice cream. This is one National Trust property you don't have to pay to enter its grounds or car park, which is a bonus quite frankly! We'll be going back for a walk in the Autumn if the rain ever stops!
