Today was the Christening of our friends' little girl, known as Baby Ela. The Christening took place at St Benedict's Abbey in Ealing. A part of London, despite not being far from my homeland Fulham, I don't know at all. I can probably count on one hand the amount of times I've ventured there.
An impressive building the Abbey towers above the surrounding houses. Vast, it's stone interior with beautiful stain glass windows instill a feeling of calm. A wonderful diversion if you're passing by. I often think why do we rush to see those beautiful churches on the continent when we avoid walking into them at home? Perhaps it's time we played tourist in our own cities?
