Crafty Christmas

Matilda's enthusiasm for Christmas has been pretty infectious this year. Her understanding of Christmas and what it entails has accelerated at great speed, particularly after her visit to see Father Christmas at Lapland UK last week.

As soon as she wakes up she wants the Christmas lights on, she marvels at all the decorations and lights in the shops and on the streets. Yesterday at her friend's house they excitedly kept looking up through the skylight's searching for Father Christmas and his sleigh.

So after long days of shopping for clients this week and generally running around, we've fitted in making Gingerbread men and making toilet roll decorations for the tree. Pinecones we gathered on Wimbledon Common in the Autumn are now sprinkled in magical gold dust decorating the Kitchen table. Next I will get more organised and plan our Christmas crafting much earlier.

Today for me sees the start of Christmas baking and food making. Nigella's Christmas Book is now taking pride of place on the work surface. Friday night we had her Chocolate chip chilli, and Saturday night we enjoyed her lamb and date tagine with friends, whilst watching the Strictly Come Dancing final. We were all routing for Louis who deservedly was crowned the King of Strictly!

With Matilda's excitement especially heightened influencing my propensity to make far too much food for the three of us, I don't think I'll be cooking for atleast a week! The oven will be getting a well earned rest after tomorrow. What are you cooking for Christmas
