A Postcard from Rye and Tenterden

We spent a wet yet very enjoyable afternoon milling around the pretty Kent towns of Tenterden and Rye last Saturday. Bursting at the seams with small boutiques, antique and second hand shops, cafes and restaurants with The George Pub presiding over the main high street in Rye, they are the ideal location for a quick getaway.

Below is the gorgeous Nutmeg cafe/deli in Tenterden where I highly recommend the Monmouth coffees. Definitely the best in town. Matilda also thoroughly enjoyed the chocolate orange cupcake as you can see below.

Loved the blue of this door.

The impressive church in Tenterden.

Glittery Christmas decorations.

Pretty, quaint Rye with its Tudor buildings lining the high street.

I loved the use of these wooden crates outside this rather elegant house.

The pirate house.

The cutest sweetshop in town.

The uber trendy George Inn where you can enjoy a wonderful meal then tumble into bed upstairs.

Bird is a fantastic fashion/homeware shop selling the delectable Jonathan Adler candles.

Pretty Winter window box.

The husband and Matilda fooling around whilst waiting for shopaholic Mummy.

I was very tempted...

Stunning sunset on the drive back to our friend's cottage in nearby Appledore

We came across this incredible unicycle on our drive around, think I'll be getting myself one of those when we move out of London.

Rummaging through shops, taking long walks, eating good food and drinking rich red are my ideal Winter weekend away activities. What are yours?
