Dozo - Old Brompton Road

Noodles, noodles, noodles. I'd been craving noodles all last week, probably as an antidote to all the rich food and cakes consumed over the Jubilee weekend. So on Saturday I finally succumbed, egged on by the husband whose cold was demanding carbs. We took to the road and ended up in nearby South Kensington, where surprisingly one can park for free after 1.30pm on a Saturday (good to know for the museums too). We had a quick walk around the Bute Street Farmers Market then stumbled upon Dozo, which serves all manner of Sushi, Sashimi, rolls and noodles.

It's a small restaurant made to look like a Japanese tea house with sunken seats, dark furniture and walls enhanced by the dim lighting. I especially liked the beautifully painted giant Geisha who gazed upon us whilst we relaxed in her restaurant.

Cute little Soya sauce pots on each table

Service was fast and very friendly. We ordered 'sweet prawn nigiri' to start,  and then sadly we both ordered the Yaki Udon noodles with chicken and vegetables. We've been married for far too long! I was secretly hoping the husband would order a seafood miso soup so I could dip in, but no such luck. A coldy, manflued up husband was also craving noodle carby goodness. The Yaki Udon was very nice indeed, possibly not the best I've ever had but it did the job well. The prawn nigiri was beautifully presented, fresh, simple and elegant.

It was interesting to see the sushi chef at work creating intricate and beautiful looking works of art. Next time I'm definitely going to indulge in some of these as well as their Bento boxes that looked equally good. Dozo is one to try if you're in the area and would like some healthy fast food!
